When it comes to closed system, all brands-Coleman, Duo Therm, Carrier and Intertherm work using basic principles of refrigeration. two most common complaints are not cooling and leakage.

When air conditioner stops cooling your RV there are number of ways to solve problem. Determine whether compressor is running. For this purpose, by activating compressor and checking for noise and vibration sense.

If it doesn’t run check to see if thermostat is set correctly and make sure there isn’t blown circuit. Check voltage with voltmeter if compressor is working. voltage should be at least 13.4 volts. If charge is below this it can cause air conditioner to not cool. Clean air filter with soap and water mixture or vacuum filter clean. For unit to work properly it must have proper air flow.

If air filter is dirty refrigerant will not be able to pick up enough heat from air inside RV. If condenser coils are blocked, it won’t be able to give off enough heat to outside air as well. Clean evaporator coils by blowing them clean with compressed air.

Neglected and clogged evaporator coils can prevent unit from cooling. Tape any rips in duct work with duct tape. Any tears or holes will cause unit to malfunction.
