Install Wall Tile in Bathroom

Any type and size of tile can be installed on the bathroom wall, wall tiles, but are good for wall installations only. If drywall is painted with semi-gloss or hogh gloss paint, paint must be treated with TSP solution, or liquid sanding solution, to degloss paint surface so tile will stick to wall.

Measure walls that will be receiving tile and mark middle point of wall. Draw thick line down middle of each wall. This will be starting point for tile.

Place dropcloth on floor underneath wall being tiled. Use margin trowel to load acrylic mastic onto v-notch trowel. Starting at floor level, spread mastic onto 2-foot x 2-foot area on wall using upstrokes.

Place edge of first tile on middle line with spacers between tile and floor. Repeat this to cover mastic along bottom of wall, and then work your way up wall to cover mastic with tile. Do not slide tiles together.

Sliding tiles together will cause mastic to gather in grout lines and indifficult to remove. Touch edges of tile together before pressing tile into mastic. Repeat this process until most of wall is covered.

When whole wall is covered, except for last row of tiles that will meet corners of other walls, stop and measure sizes that remaining tiles must be cut to to finish wall to corners. Cut these tiles at same time if they are all same size. If wall is not square and each tile must be cut to different sizes, cut and install each tile individually, testing fit of each tile before spreading mastic on back of tile called back-buttering and adhering it to wall.

Repeat this process for other walls that will be tiled. Then, allow mastic to dry according to drying specifications on container.
