Photovoltaics PV or solar are to supply panels designed preconfigured output voltage, usually 12, 24 or 48 volts, but true output voltage fluctuates vary as weather conditions during the day. To avoid batteries from overcharging, these fluctuations must be controlled by installed PV charge controller between the panels and battery bank. Create 12-volt bank from 12-volt batteries by wiring all batteries in parallel, connecting all positive terminals and all negative terminals to each other. Create 24-volt bank by wiring pairs of 12V batteries in series. Do this by connecting positive terminal of one to negative of other.

Connect these pairs together in parallel to form bank. Create 48-volt bank by wiring sets of four 12V batteries in series, and then connecting sets in parallel to form bank.
