Build Photovoltaic Solar Panels

Photovoltaic solar panels are quite expensive when purchased from manufacturers, but in fact devices are relatively simple and can built at home for fraction of the cost. typical solar panel consists of an array of 36 monocrystalline in frame in Plexiglas covered housed cells. With minimal knowledge of carpentry and electrical wiring, you can build these devices themselves.

Lay solar cells are in rows of six on plywood down so that you can easily solder together. Using separate copper wire for positive and negative currents, each cell soldering together in an array of the top left cell of the lower left cell. Be sure to touch on each solder joint.

If you miss one, array will not work. Leave approximately three feet of extra wire at end for connecting blocking diode. Place small amount of heat resistant adhesive in middle of each cell, and then carefully place masonite pegboard over backs of cell so that it covers all of them.

Turn entire configuration over so that cells are resting on pegboard, and plywood can be removed. Using 3 or 4-inch by 3 or 4-inch wood molding, create frame around perimeter of the, and secure it into place with nails or wood screws. Carefully place pegboard with cells now stuck to it inside frame.

It should fit snugly in frame but, if not, shave down edges until it does. Secure pegboard to frame with wood screws and be sure not to damage any wires.
