Measure length and width of seat and back support of dining chair frame to determine how big your pieces of plywood need to be. Use saw to cut big piece of plywood into four parts, two size of seat support frame and two size of back support frame. Determine how many rows of tennis balls your seat can comfortably fit.
seat and back will each have either four rows of four tennis balls, or five rows of five balls. For example, if your plywood can hold five rows of five balls, then you will need 25 balls for seat and 25 for back for total of 50 balls. Use tennis ball to trace your rows and columns of circles on to one piece of seat plywood and one piece of back plywood.
Use jigsaw to cut out traced circles. Use golf ball to trace set of smaller circles on remaining two pieces of plywood. These plywood pieces will serve as back piece to plywood pieces with tennis-ball sized holes.
Use jigsaw to cut traced golf ball circles. smaller holes are to ensure that tennis ball will not push through large holes, but will allow balls to roll within holes. Line up piece with large holes that fits back support of chair frame.
Use existing holes in chair frame to determine where you will drill holes to attach plywood to frame. Use marker to mark spots on wood that correspond to holes on chair frame. Power drill holes into marked spots big enough to fit bolts. Repeat step with plywood containing smaller holes.
Follow same steps for two pieces of plywood for seat support of chair frame, using existing holes in seat of frame for bolt holes.
