Build 110 Volt Solar Panel

Solar energy has many advantages, when viewed as an alternative energy source. Sunlight is free and can be found everywhere. It’s not dirty.

It comes in infinite supply. biggest drawback of solar energy for many people with free solar panels. This price can be reduced by purchasing small individual solar cells and wiring them together in solar panel.

Cut square out of plywood. It should be as wide as five solar cells are wide, plus twice width of wooden strips, plus five inches. It should be as tall as eight solar cells are tall, plus twice width of wooden strips, plus eight inches.

Glue solar cells onto wooden panel with electrical glue. Place glass-side up. Put five cells side-by-side in row, with about inch between them.

Leave wide border on both sides. Do not connect glue from one cell to glue of any others. Leave small line of glue protruding from top of each cell.

These lines connect to positive terminals of cells. Make eight of these rows. last row will have only two cells.

Remove approximately two inches of insulation from one end of each of five-inch wires, using wire strippers. Remove about half inch from other ends. Glue long exposed sections to tops of solar cells with conductive glue.

These wires attach to positive terminals of solar cells. Try not to cover too much of tops of cells with glue. Remove about ½ inch of insulation from both ends of six-inch wires.

Glue one of these wires to positive connection of first cell. line of conductive glue is positive connection. Twist and tape other end of six-inch wire to negative wire terminal of next cell.

Repeat this process until each cell is connected to next. You should be left with one unconnected negative terminal on first cell and one unconnected terminal on last. Strip about one inch of insulation from each end of both of foot-long wires.

Glue one to positive terminal of last cell. Twist and tape other to negative wire of first cell. Glue wooden strips around border of plywood using regular glue.

Let two-foot -long wires stick out between strips of wood. These form positive and negative terminals of your solar panel.
